I'm running a pretty hot 383 (it came out of a '70 Super Bee) in my '65 W200. Last September (1998) I installed a Flex-a-Lite FLX-210, dual fan, with thermo sensor (it has a copper bulb on the end of a capillary tube that is inserted into the neck of the radiator, under the hose, and connects to a switch box mounted on the side of the radiator mounting frame. Last week the switch went bad. Flex-a-Lite sent me a replacement unit; it arrived the next day. In the mean time, I just "hot wired" the fan. There is a terminal on the switch box for a remote "manual override" switch. If you install one of these things, make sure you install the manual switch. I bought the Flex-a-Lite from Summit Racing Equipment for $187.95; the switch was $16.95. I wouldn't use the Flex-a-Lite switch though, as any two pole switch will do. The Flex-a-Lite has a ground pole and is illuminated when "ON". There are a lot of cheaper switches with the same features available.

The main reason I went to the electric fan was that it frees up a lot of engine compartment space in front of the engine (i.e., with the fan and radiator cowl removed).

v/r Mark
