Yes,I do understand axle ratios very well.I also understand that no matter what the gearing is, tire circumference must be considered when calculating or assuming engine rpm at any speed. The issue was not life expectancy of a L-head from doing high rpm's as you now charge,but whether it could sustain the rpm's needed to make a wm300 go 80mph (w/5:83 gears and 36"tires)for 11.25 seconds. I was surprised,that I had not seen a reply from you on the"100mph with a L-230" statement and was trying to be humorous about it.
