George,
Measure the voltage on the 24 volt side of the coil if you're not getting 24 volts check the ignition filter that's located in the square part of the base where the ignition wire connects to the distributor. Sometimes the filters go bad and you have to remove the 4 screws that hold the inch square plate and the connector and then remove the low voltage wire from the coil and replace the filter or bypass it with a wire. You should be getting 24 volts at your coil on the low voltage side.
