I have not ever heard of this myself. I think it is a practical solution. It shows that these were the weak point in design, even when "new". Whether it was purposful, to make the axles the weakest link, or not, it is a practical thing to do. It gives precedent and endorsement to the evolution of replacement axles which are much stronger, and "nearly unbreakable".

BTW, Has anyone, besides Foote Axle, Daniel Tibus, and myself, Designed and fabricated any other aftermarket axles, for either Civie or Military Powerwagons? I suspect there are a few by Strange and other custom builders out there on a one off custom basis, but I wonder if there are any improved versions in production. I wonder especially about you Civi PW Guys! How do you deal with this? Thanx Will Liebscher
