suspension knowledge test

I'm putting my axles back on the frame and noticed that 2 of the 8 u-bolts are shorter than the other six. Do they go in a certain location? I wasn't smart enough to notice when tearing down. The parts books list two sizes but does specify where the short ones go. I assume in the front somewhere because there are fewer leafs on the springs. They must be short as to not interfere with something, perhaps the steering. Give yourself an A+ if you can answer
