What I found was that the later style rod will replace the cable. Just unscrew the adjusting yoke off the cable and screw it onto the rod. At the other end, connect the rod to the pivot where the cable attached. You no longer will need the bracket that anchors the cable sheath at the transmission. I ordered the rod from VPW and I think it was about $30.00.
