Since the whole box springs unit is made from spring steel including the outer wire where some of the breaks are, I didn't want to put heat to braze the broken area thinking it would soften the area causing a break later. I appreciate the suggestions of wire/cable slip joints, but couldn’t afford the price for a one time use. After looking around the hardware store, this was my solution. The spring wire is about 5/32 in diameter and I found Roll Pins that the wire will fit into. Roll Pins are tempered spring steel with a slot down one side. The size I used was 1/4x1-1/2. I plan to anchor or bond them in place using my favorite – J.B. Weld. The wire edges feel solid when pressing them down where the breaks are, so I feel that this solution is best to maintain the temper of the steel for proper functioning. For the one spring that was broke, I cut a ˝ inch off a roll pin and worked it over the break centering it as I did with the pins on all breaks. It also feels solid and functions like it should. The springs side braces are soft thin metal, so that will not be a problem in brazing or fabricating new ones. I’ll put this in the PIF file for all to use. Part number - SERV-A-LITE# 295-NN, cost .35 cents each.

Anybody know the type of fiber board used in the bottom of the seat?
