i bought a 1947 p/w that was put away in correct storage in 1954. it is so mint perfect even the original 1947 dmv paperwork was still in the glove box. all the split rings were a flat silver on all five rims. unless done by the dealer it came from the factory like this. i sold it to mr. hobi in 1999. hope this helps.
