Bed wood widths varied, as the originals featured random width boards, even some tangential to fill space between skid strips. Lay your crossmembers down and you can determine location of bolt holes for skid strips. Locations of bolt holes were staggered so that every other bolt fastened fore or aft on center crossmembers.
