Referring to the 1/16" welded on ring on the gasket surface as mentioned in TM9-1808C Power trains and interchanges: military/civilian trucks 1941 to 1971 Dodge. My PW broke the short axle right at the spline and also damaged the carrier. It had one gasket on it when I removed it. The replacement carrier I removed from a spare axle assy. had three gaskets. If i am reading this manual right I think I should have three gaskets for proper spacing. However it's late and I may be trying to out-smart myself again!
