It is a pretty wild race and some horses have been lost in the race as with other sports like horse racing ect. Not sure if anyone has been killed but I have seen a few ridders get messed up and a few rescues out of the river. It is a controversial race and dose bring out PETA! In fact they locked up one of them in jail till the race was over he was tring to stop it and got on the hill. This race is a Indian Event like no other in the world. I would not run down that hill let along ride a horse in the group at full speed into a river, swiming accross to the other side and up the bank at full speed! It is what helps keep the town alive and is the biggest event of the year. Mark H.
