Here's my shot at it! Although your problem wasn't fully described, if it's an automatic transmission I'd bet it's your neutral safety switch. If the truck starts by "shorting" the starter relay then you know that your ignition circuit is okay. The cold versus warm is probably the inability to set the choke or work the throttle when outside at the relay. Let us know! Someone will win the kewpie doll.
