You're right, shouldn't have been surprised. On lighter rigs (jeeps, LCs, 4 runners) I've gotten away with quite a bit on radials. Bummer was that when I was searching for 9.00 bias tires for my 1-ton binder, all I could find was either STAs or the Les Schwabs (Power Kings I think). I bought the STAs and they are decent tires, but nothing like the old school stuff I'm used to. Guess I'll have to try some Michelins 11.00s on the M-37 when I finally break down and get new (used) rubber for it.
