Maharishi International University (later renamed Maharishi University of Management) was established in Fairfield in 1974. Currently, there are an estimated 2,000 TM practitioners living in Fairfield (20% of the local population.)
By all accounts the students and staff of MUM are good members of the community and upstanding citizens. When the University was first purchased by the Maharishi there was an uproar over what "these people" would do to the local culture. They pretty much have proven the critics wrong.
You know, nothing would be better after a long hard trail ride in a Power Wagon than for everyone at the rally to sit cross legged, stare at their muddy toes and keep chanting hmmmm.....hmmmmm.....hmmmmm.....
