I've had vapor lock on occasion with my '53-B3 flat fender, even with a (6-V) electric fuel pump. My solution is to wrap a rag around the fuel line where it is closest to the engine (manifold) and dowse it with water when it seems to vapor lock. That local cooling does it every time. Obviously, I don't drive too far at a time!
