42 out of 50 states are running a deficit economy. They are mostly run by democrats but there are a few republican states in trouble also. All of them have a scapegoat or a reason that they are in trouble, but the REAL reason is that you cannot spend more than you make. That is a simple economic rule for you and I, a hard one for those who get to play with someone elses money. There are too many ignorant people of both parties in office. Right now they have too many special interest groups to please and not enough courage to stop spending. Until they do they will continue to look for ways to bring in cash to pay for their stupidity. They are trying to redistribute the wealth (have a socialist take over) without firing a shot, hopefully you guys will not go the way of CA. As long as folks elect politicians who want to tax and spend (ie: democrats), there will be no end in site. A government nanny from cradle to grave means that you really don't own that land! So the economy and politics cannot be ignored, as much as we would like to do so.
Whatever happened to the term "public servant"???
