I had all kinds of trouble with a part throttle off idle stumble on my 1407 Edelbrock. Had it for about 2 years and called the tech line MANY times. Could not get rid of the stumble no matter what was tried. Tech line Finally told me it was too large of a carb and I was on my own. Too large for 450 cubes???? I could mash it wide open at 800 RPM in high gear and it would take off without any kind of stumble so I don't think it was too big! Finally rebuilt a $5 garage sale TQ and problem solved. After a few months the float sunk on the TQ and I put the Edelbrock back on and now it runs perfect. Can't explain that as there was virtually no differnce in vacum readings. My main complaint is the tech line told me they would not help anymore. I did eventually discover a piece of what appeared to be solder or a chunk of aluminum in one of the booster jets and I think that was what caused the off idle lean condition. Edelbrock replaced that. I have an A/F ratio guage so I knew it was going lean. Like I said they basically told me to go take a hike when they could not get it right and that really makes me not want to buy another.
