I suspect the rubber ones don't hold up to the heat as well. I went to replace a rear main seal on a Ford engine awhile back to discover the original factory seal completely disintegrated (one quart every 500 miles). Best I could tell the heat got it. Hey Marty... (your) trucks that don't leak and look GREAT, does it get any better than that?
