318 - 360 fuel pump

on a 318-360 fuel pump there are two ports- a threaded fitting and a barb fitting. is the barb fitting the 'in' from the tank, or is the threaded the 'in'. normally i would pump the lever, but i installed the pump already, and dont want to turn the engine over until i am ready to go.
