Those are good ideas. My glue-lams are at the other end of the 400 miles right now, but I should find out next weekend if they're long enough. I suspect they're not, because as I recall they fit in M35 bed straight with the tailgate up, but perhaps even if they don't go clear to the front of the bed, they'll be long enough to go under both tires.
You didn't say how you attached the truck to the trailer, but I assume you threw a couple binder chains over the frame rails or axles, right?
Unloading will not be a problem since there's a nice publicly-useable 4' high loading ramp under the freeway right in town.
