I have flat towed alot in the last several years. I have not had any thing go wrong while using a tow bar, except having one come loose. I could see the truck starting to sway, so I pulled over, and re-tightend things up. The whole key to flat towing and using a tow bar is Slow and easy. Dont get in a hurry. Dont hurry while hooking up the tow bar, and dont hurry while driving. Once on the road, stop after a mile or two and check and retighten things, and then go another mile or two and check it again. I have never tied off the steering and I normally just let the truck "track" behind me. It is always good having an extra person with you, makes it so much easier hooking up tow bar and is shure a big help when things might go wrong. Make shure your tire pressures are all up and even. Keep it around 50 MPH. It seems to me in most instances that at 55, the vehicle being towed starts to sway a bit. Use a good set of lights on the truck. Yea, I know using a trailer is the best way to go, but you gotta do what you gotta do. I often keep a tow bar in the back of my work truck and if I am out and around, and somebody gives me a junker to haul home, I can hook on it and go. Good luck! and get us a pic of the Deuce with the M-37 in the back.
