Dana 70 Front Diff Relocated Tie Rod

On E-bay, a Dana 70 Front diff was sold that had the tie rod relocated to the front of the differential. Are there any problems driving the vehicle with this change? How much machine work is involved to modify the stock diff? Does anyone know of a shop that does this modification? It sounds great to have the tie rod out of the way, but Dodge must have had a reason for putting it where they did. Any responses would be appreciated.
