Bed Question?

Does anyone know which bed would have come on a 1957 K6 ffpw? I have a Series III bed on my truck. But on pictures below of 1967 and 1968 trucks there are series III beds. Were different beds put on trucks in the same model year? Did a series I bed end in a certain year, then go to a series II bed until a series III bed picked up in a certain year? Why are there so few series III beds? And, finally, does it matter?
