Actually, it took me 2 1/2 hours to get the bulk of the mud off the engine and underbody!
After that, I removed the air cleaner and inspected the carb...no mud or water! The oil was OK too! Only problem was the radiator split open on the bottom tank, thus stranding me. Also, mod had caked into the bell housing causing temporary clutch failure and the starter bendix was mudded so bad it could not engage! I cleaned the mud out the next day with a screwdriver and brake spoon, lubed the bendix up, and she fires up good again!! I am removing the 383 to plut it in a W300 next week, so I will clean it further! The rally was a BLAST!!
Thanks to Herb Hobi for riding in the back to throw out the tow strap so I did not get muddy! (Or engufed with mud if I had tried to open the door!) The mud was at the top of the grill! Oh well...I guess I earned the 'Jackass' award!!!!!Thanks again to all the people who put the ride together and the fancy M37 that was able to pull me free of the gumbo! And heartfelt thanks to Jock for giving it a try!! I should have read between the lines when his moter was partially covered too!! More when I get home in a couple days!!!!
