I think that you will find that most autotransporters charge a minimum of $1.00 per mile.
When searching for an auto transporter you have to make sure that the price you are quoted is the price you are going to pay upon delivery of your vehicle. Some transporters may initially give you a low-ball price only to tack on extra's (loading,unloading,waiting fees, etc...)when they arrive at your door - then hold your vehicle hostage until you pay.
There was a discussion a couple of forums back about moving Power Wagons youself by using a U-Haul Truck and installing the appropriate tie-downs. So of like a DIY enclosed trailer.
