bench bleeding Master Cylinder

I am getting ready to install the master cylinder back into my truck. I installed a rebuild kit and want to bench bleed it.

From what I understand I need to mount it level in a vise and run a line back into the resivor and then work the piston a couple of times to clear the air out.

Can I bled the master cylinder while it is installed in the truck?

This is getting installed in a M37 that I have stripped to the frame.
