1997 4x4,x-cab 1500 PW w/318 and 159,000 mi.
serviced by County fleet managment service dept. on a regular basis since new. Picked up today and oil pressure gauge falls to 0-lbs. pressure and red oil light comes on.
Runs fine,plenty of oil, no shudder, overheating or other sign of engine trouble.
I stop to check oil, fine, get back in and crankup,oil pressure gauge normal at 40lbs,oil light is off, drives and feels normal then a few minutes later oil light comes on and oil gauge drops to 0, I keep driving as everything still seems fine. I stop again after approx. 5 mi. again I start up and oil pressure gauge is reading 40 and oil light is off. I drive approx. 5mi. and on come the light and gauge drops to 0. I drive home as normal for 10 more miles, nothing bad happens ,no overheating or other sound ,shake,or shudder to warn of trouble, whats up ? Oh yes, fuse is good . Has a sensor gone bad or what?
