We made it home from our cross country journey last night & it was a fantastic trip. We traveled through 8 states in 5 days & covered over 5000 miles on my friends new truck! It sure was nice to meet Clint Dixon, & his friend Brian, Judd, Dana, Steve & crew at VPW, etc, etc. It's nice to be able to put faces to the friends I've made over the past year or so but never met.
Wilbur made his trek out to the West Coast without incident & as a matter of fact, I think he enjoys his new home as much as Nebraska with all them Tornadoes & all! You'll notice from the picture that we flew the Vancouver Canucks flag on his door all the way home....to no avail it would appear from their loss last night, I might add!
What a fantastic drive on the way home from Cheyenne, Wyoming all the way up & through Montana on the I-25. That's one of the nicest stretches of highway that I've ever seen. Fantastic Power Wagon country that's for sure.
I wish I wasn't in such a hurry to get back home...I could have spent weeks on this trip just investigating all the derelict ol' iron in farmers fields.
I will return next year for the Iowa rally & can't wait to spend several days sifting through VPW's treasures. That's a story in itself! I've never imagined that many P/W parts in one location before, Steve & Dave need to be commended for keeping us running.
I very much look forward to returning next year & was disappointed I missed Dave when I was there.
