A GM Corp 10 front end will bolt right in with alittle bit of grinding and cutting off the lower bracket on the pumpkin side of the original front end to mate with the pumpkin side of the corp 10. Next knock off the leaf spring pads from a GM 14 bolt or DANA 60 rear end and weld in the narrow pads from an original rear end and bolt it up. Put 3/4 ton spindles and rotors/calipers up front and get a disc brake kit fer the back.
4.10 or 4.56 gears are good fer the weight of the truck. Next the chevy small blocks or the dodge 318 or 360 can be squeezed in and trust me it is a squeeeezzee. Talking like 1/4 in. to 1/2 in. clearances (everywhere). The 727 or 700R4 auto trannys and whatever t-case is attached will bolt right up to the frame and with Lokars shift kits the shifter/e-brake will come up right thru the existing holes. Add a short shifter fer the t-case (got to cut a small hole in the floor fer that one). Custom build a couple drivelines and install vintage air. New wheels and tires and be careful not to twist off the smaller front end u-joints. This of course is a brief summary and there are a few more incidentals that need to be considered (steering gear box, steering linkage, beer, wiring, tranny cooler, exhaust, beer, where do I stick the battery now?, divorce attorney, more beer, counseling, where is my beer!, ect.)
Good luck!
