The axle housing width may be the same, but the 6X6 rear rear axle uses different spings mounts than a 4X4. The 6X6 has cast loops on top of the axle housing for the pivoting tandem rear spings and not spring pads and bolts like the 4X4 axle housing. Look at the rear tandem axles on a 6X6 to see the differences, or look at some military manual photos. It could be adopted as a 4X4 rear axle, but that would be a major PITA. It is not a bolt it swap; far, far from it.
