Just got my film developed (as I forgot my digital camera in Texas!) and posted them on image event. Here are a few of my thoughts/observations/comments/general-drivel after my third Texas Rally...

To Sam and Tracey Goins, Dan and Becky Owens, Lloyd and his wife (SORRY! I forgot her name, and she's the better looking of the two!!); It seems like every time I go to Texas, I'm on a diet (the story of my life). You folks don't seem to care about my health! You don't seem to care how much I eat or my cholesterol level!! If you've never put on the 'feed-bag', you need to get to a Texas Rally!! Emeril Lagasse (sp?) could learn something about making hearty grub for 50+ folks from these Texans!! (By the way, Sam; you're a terrible Auctioneer - Foster got all his parts waaaaaaaaay too cheap...)

Dwitght: A pleasure getting to know you better and meeting your (MUCH) better half, Kim! (Judd, she wasn't wearing a towel!) I teased you while you were stealing the pintel-hook off of your wife's truck and told you that she wasn't going to be very happy. You just dismissed me like the out-of-work comedian that I am! I have to tell you the look on her face when the pintel-hook came up for auction and she realized it was her's, why, it nearly broke my heart. I wanted to out-bid Mr. Sawyer so I could just give it back to her. Then I remembered her comment about me being related to Judd, and with that insult, I figured I didn't owe that woman a thing!!

AAA: It was good getting to know you better too. I love your new Perkins Turbo-Diesel, 5-speed, W300 'House-on-wheels'. If I were you, I'd go looking for Hummers/Navigators/Escalades, and just bump them off the road, it'll be the only off-roadin' that they'll ever do! You could always play the 'I'm-sorry,-I-don't-have-any-brakes' card!

Mark: I enjoyed talking with you, but I never got a trail ride in your new '41 WC. Then again, that might be a good thing, it's only a half-ton, and with you and I in there, we'd be pushing that rating! We should have shoe-horned ourselves in there at least for a 'Where's the Beef!?" photo!

John and Laura Foster; Thanks for putting me up (and putting up with me) at the 'Hotel Foster', Brownwood's only four-star hotel! (Sorry about the snoring thing...) (I think Laura was going to give me a hug when I first saw her, but I'd beaten her to the punch and had already stuck out my hand for a handshake. So she shook my hand!! Can you believe it, I might have blown my chance for a HUG!! I'm SUCH an idiot...)

Paul Cook: as usual, always a pleasure to see you. (I won't admit that in public.) With out you in the Power Wagon field, there wouldn't be the camaraderie that we all take for granite. Next Texas Rally, everyone bring Paul a brick from your home town! (He collects bricks, or something...)

And last but certainly not least: Pat and Wanda, thanks for letting us hang out at your place, eat all your food, tear up your land, and use your shop. I always look forward to the hugs!

To Joe Cimoch, you HAVE to make a Texas rally!! I know you're semi-stuck on the east coast, but some year you'll have to plan and meet these folks, they really put the 'Pit' in 'Southern Hospitality!!' (...wha???...)

To the rest of you forum folks; take this as a shameless plug for Pat and Wanda's rally or the Texas rallies; we all know that VPW's June rally is the 'Sturgis' of the Power Wagon world, but there are some friendly folks down there and you all (or is that ya'll?) are really missing out on something special. (Some of them are told over and over again that they're 'special'...)

Enjoy the photos!
