You should try those pads in an angled die grinder (make sure your saftey glasses are on)
My trucks firewalls were the same color as the exterior (original) blue and submarine green. The only odd thing with my trucks was that the blue one had original paint color of blue on the fenders and the green one has the original paint color of black on the fenders.
