The new PWA arrived today and, as usual, I read it before leaving the post office. Even better, today I had to stand in line to pickup a package with a new vintage hunting knife for my collection and Gordon gave me something to do in that infernal line.
Sitting On The Tailgate is always a pleasure to read with great stories and useful words of wisdom from Sage Gordon.
This month Gordon writes about his experiences working in a full service garage. Years ago a manager paid Gordon a supreme compliment that is indicative of the quality of man Gordon is and how he has always done a complete, thorough and flawless job on any task he undertakes.
When Gordon told the manager that the differential setup job he had been assigned was something he had not done before, the manager replied "Ya, but u only do a job one time...we like that. We dont ever want to see this truck again."
Of course, they never did see it again.
Tnx for all these great articles Gordon. I have used many of them to show rookies what level of quality is expected if they want to achieve excellence in their field.
A smart man knows a lot. A wise man knows what he doesnt know.
