Axle prep/blasting

If one abrasive blasts the axle with something like black beauty, do you have to then completely dissasemble it to ensure there is no media inside? I am going to do the frame with epoxy primer and paint, and am mulling over whether to use POR 15 on the front axle or blast and paint. The rear axle was already done in POR when I bought the truck.
