DO NOT DRIVE YOUR TRUCK UNTIL READJUSTING OR YOU WILL GLAZE THE BAND MATERIAL!

The .005 is correct for the clearance between the band and anchor bracket.

1. At the anchor bracket, adjust the band .015 to .030 between the band material and brake drum using the Anchor screw. Make sure you lock the screw using mechanics wire afterwards.

2. Make sure the Brake Adjusting Screw (1/4" diameter x5") is going from bottom of band up to the brake adjustment guide and not from the top down.

3. At the bottom of the drum, adjust .015 to .030 between the band material and brake drum using Brake Adjusting Screw nut, then lock the nut.

4. Using the Adjusting Bolt nut (3.8 with hook at one end), adjust .015 to .030 between the band material and brake drum at the top of drum.

This should put the brake lever a little over half way in a pull to lock the drum. As a final adjustment, I drive the truck for .5 mile and feel the band for excessive heat. If I can hold my hand on it without having to immediately pull away because of heat, then I'm comfortable with the adjustment. You looking for the band to be warm, but not hot.

You can also feel the drag of the band on the drum if you do a slow roll and the truck wants to stop instead of contining to move. This indicates the band is too tight and should be backed off.

If it's too tight, I usually back off the adjusting bolt nut one full turn, lock the nut, then test again.

I hope these instructions make since.
