A carbide tipped masonry bit will drill an easy out, ...IF... it is resharpened to a "normal" metal drill point. At work, I have had to remove many broken E-Z outs. We use a TIG welder to weld a nut onto the broken piece, then either pull (for the square ones) or turn the broken piece out. The quenching idea works too, (especially on broken thread taps) and can be made to work better by using cold salt water. We also use WD 40 as a quench. It does not harden the broken piece as much sothat it may be turned out, and the sudden cooling tends to draw the oil into the stuck part. Good Luck Joe L.
