I have used the military-style towbars for years, pulling all manner of tacticals with same. I have towed 5-tons with my M37 successfully (albeit with an air brake control system on the Dodge), and I have discovered several facts of their use at highway speeds: Towing truck needs to outweigh towed by a factor of two, or towed load needs active braking with separate control. Extended bar tows calmer than retracted length. Steering on towed truck will behave better if limited to a half turn only--A rubber bungee works good for this. Tire inflation 10 lbs over normal on front, tow in to spec, drive shafts out or hubs free. Most of my towing nowadays is done with a M54A1 6X6 5-ton tactical cargo truck, and it just says "come with me", not waiting for any particular answer. DG
