Of course I hope nobody steals anybody's truck. I thought
about that for about 5 seconds with mine since it's sitting
out by the street with the battery in it and there've been
a lot of car thefts here lately. But I figure first of all,
any theivishly inclined kids nowadays wouldn't know how to
start a vehicle that didn't have a key switch. I'll bet none
of them has even seen a rig with a floor-pedal starter. Secondly,
my truck came with basically no electrical system. Since I wired
it myself and didn't want to buy any parts, I used what switches
I had laying around. Hence, there are rotary switches for lights
blinkers, a toggle switch for the ignition and a pushbutton on
the dashboard for the horn. None are labeled. I figure a thief
might figure out the toggle switch is for the ignition. Then he'd
try to start it by pushing the pushbutton, except it would work
the horn which would wake me up I'd have to go out and shoot him.
If I wasn't home and he eventually got it going, he'd have to keep
futzing with the choke to keep it running, and he'd have a hell of
a time getting the tranny past second gear. I'm not worried. If
you're worried, leave a new Honda with the keys in it nearby as a
sacrifical decoy.
