90%odds it's the timing chain and/or gears. I'm
pretty sure this model year like many others used
a nylon gear set to quiet some noise. best bet is to
to replace before she leaves you stranded.
procedure is pretty straightforward. Best to use a
good double roller set if you can afford it. I
have heard this noise quite a few time in a dodge
small block , and it's almost always the timing
set. If it's not it can be a worn key passage in
the balancer.
