I would change the following:
Headlights
Tailights
Fuels sender in tank
Dash lights
Coil
Points
Coil resistor
(Not sure if the condensor is different)
Generator
Regulator
License plate light?
Blackout marker lights
Horn (use a resistor)

The blackout Drive light is only 6 volt on both the Command Car and the standard trucks, the Command Car has a resistor under the dash though.
Mustang dashes from 1974-7? (Mustang II series) had 6volt guages with resistors on the dash back to step down voltage, I read.
Volkswagons had 6 volt systems, JC Whitney sells adaptors for 12 volt items.

6 Volt Starter is OK till you overheat it, don't keep cranking too long.
If you don't want to spend $150 for a gen and regulator, I'd switch to a GM altenator from the 70's, built in regulator, and only 2 wires.

You can peel back and resolder in 12 volt light bulbs yourself if you don't want to buy the 12 volt inserts.

Don't forget your trailer lights. Good Luck, WAW
