: : I am looking at a '51 Power Wagon this weekend. It is
: : supposedly mostly rust free, and in decent shape, i.e.
: : it runs and stops. No winch. However, evidently the
: : box was butchered up for something or other at some
: : time in the past. It sounds like it would need a new
: : box. The price is $1500. Is it relatively easy to
: : find a box, or install a later model W100/200/300 box
: : and use the PW fenders? Any thing else I should look
: : for? Any advice at all?
: Tom-
: It is relatively difficult to find an original box
: for these trucks in good shape or bad shape.I have
: heard of some people using the W series beds-don't
: know if the fenders are interchangeable or not. There
: is an email on this site somewhere pertaining to
: that topic. May be in the archives.
: Many people give up and mount a flat bed on these
: which looks good, but if you are a diehard purist
: wanting an original or original appearing bed you
: have your work cut out for you.
: Good luck

PS If you have not committed on the one you are
looking for you might consider looking for a
complete unit. You might spend a little more up
front- but you will save an unbelievable amount
of time and money spent scrounging for parts and
working on marginal parts.
