OK, I'll speak up for the other side in this debate. I'm running a TH400 automatic in my v8 M37. I'm on the tall side, and the placement
the clutch pedal looks like it would be very uncompfortable for my legs. I often drive the M37 to work-- only 3 miles, but lots of stop and go.
Don't really want to be doing all that shifting, especially on a hot day with all the heat the v8 radiates into the cab. I like being able to drive
with one hand (power steering ) and one foot if I choose. And how often do you really need to roll start?
