The correct designation for your truck is R-2 Crash Truck. I believe M-56 refers to the long wheelbase version of the M-37 chassis. Except for items obviously unique to the R-2, pretty much all is common with to the M-37. I have one that was converted to a pickup by cutting the top of the box off (I didn't do it!). I f yours is intact, I would keep it original as only 300 of these were made and only about 30 are believed to remain.
