I don't know if it is luck or what but someone just
gave me a '69 W100,(I guess he valued the parking spot
more than the truck) not running of course and Fred
Flintstone would feel right at home in it, but it is
whole. The reason I took it is that I've wanted
something to practice bodywork on without having to
tear up my '68 W200 (not yet anyway). What I want to do
is create a sort of hybrid truck; half Power Wagon,
half Ram Charger. I've never done anything like this,
but figure that it'll mean cutting and shortening the
frame, relocating the crossmember, adjusting the
driveshaft lengths, removing the roof, cutting open the
back half of the cab, cutting off part of the front of
the bed, attaching the shortened bed to the cab just
behind the doors and fabricating a new roof (removable
like the old ramchargers). Any advice on the mechanichs
of a project like this would be appreciated.
p.s. Yes I'm serious & no I don't need my head checked.
