About 20 years ago when my B1PW was a mere child, I was cruising down a dirt road besides a levee in 2WD. The levee made a strong jog to the right, then a hard left turn. The dirt road followed along side. I had a choice. I could follow the dirt road around, or splash through about 100 feet of shallow water with weeds poking through. Naturally, I decided to splash through. I got almost half way across when the truck went straight down. Water was pooring through the windshield opening, so I quickly removed the coke can/regulator. I engaged the front axle, dropped to a lower gear, and soon popped up on the other side. The weeds that I had seen were now stuck in the clearance lights on the roof. It turned out that the puddle I splashe through was the "borrow pit" where they got the dirt to make the levee. The weeds poking though the water were growing on a floating mat of vegitation. Thank God I was sober or I would have done it again.
