: I am currently rebuilding my 230 for my M-37 while mail ordering parts one vendor told me not to use steel babbit bearings that they don't last as long as copper backed type anyone have any experience with this?

I'm not a PW engine expert, but babbit won't last as long as the newer multilayer insert bearings. Babbit is softer material. I would update to the multilayer if it'll fit your application. I've checked with NAPA for my 230 and they can get whatever I need when the time comes. You NAPA store has to have kept their old books though. No way to find the applications without them. Their numbering is the same, but the old stuff ain't in the 'puters.
