Thanks dc, I now have the M-37 back on the road. It's running good, thanks for the tip on setting the gears on the oil pump and the rotor to 7 o'clock. the engine is running better than before. I used a timming light and set the timming at 6 Deg advance.
Thanks
Lorne

: get eng to TDC compression stroke
: prime pump put drive gear slot parallel with
: mounting holes, narrow side toward heavy part
: of pump, turn shaft one tooth counterclockwise
: and line up to opening in pump housing.
: dist rotor should be at 7o'clock wen done
: : I would like to get information on resetting the timming on my 1951 M-37. Its a stock 6 cyl flat head. I removed my oil pump to put new gaskets in it to stop an oil leak. By doing that I changed the timming on the motor. Can any one tell me what the timming should be set at, and whats the best way of doing it. (I found out that you need to prime the oil pump when you put it back together. or you dont get any oil pressure) Any information and help about the timming would be appreciated. My e mail is drakeley@Jps.net
