fyi:I have been through scads of these engines and I have only seen 1 of these tubes so bad that it needed to be replaced. the tube's job is only to help make sure that the coolant gets to the back of the engine, and if some of the holes are a little tired,it really doesnt hurt anything unless the front of the tube looks like it is pretty much disappearing i wouldnt worry to much about it. I'm trying to find out the best way to inspect, and
: : or remove, the water distribution tube from a flathead
: : six. I was told by Gary Moonie, that he built a
: : special tool to remove it. A piece of flat steel
: : with a hook on the end and he used a lever to pound it
: : out. I'm wondering if it's possible to inspect it, and
: : if it's in good shape, maybe I can avoid removing it.
: : Has anyone had any dealings with this part of the old
: : flathead? I'd appreciate any feedback at all before I
: : start tearing it apart. Thanks

: Unless you have access to a borescope I doubt you can really inspect it without removing it.
: It can be a bear to get out. Unless you are on a tight budget I'd jst plan on replacing it.
