: I have a 1952 M-37 that is in real good shape, other than the poor motor. I am pulling out the flat head and am going to investigate further what is ailing it (I can see that the sleeves are slipping down the piston). If repairing the engine is going to equal the cost of putting another one in, I am going to opt for another engine (until I pay off my student loan...then the Hercules Turbo Diesel might find it's way into my engine compartment). My question is this: Has anyone ever dropped a V-6 into an M-37? It would seem a logical consideration... one would not have to worry about cutting into fenders, or worring about having enough room for the water pump to clear the fan. I have been thinking on terms of either a Dodge Magnum V-6 or the Vortec V-6 by Chevrolet. Mind you, I do not want a high-speed truck, just something to get me from point A to point B, and perhaps drive 50 MPH without the fear of over-revving my engine.
: Thanks.

A V-6 sounds nice but there are a lot of good 318's
and 360 V-8's around at a reasonable cost that
are easy to install. Others have done it and you can tap their experience.

A 360 will out power any V-6 you can buy, so
why not go with a proven conversion?
