Message:   That's an odd color. Those scale trucks are supposed to be black and white. Ive personally met those boys a few times when I drove the 62 W300 beast every day. They didnt like the fact it was registered as a "pickup" so I never stopped at the scales...

But in those days there was no definition of "pickup" in the CA veh code. They wrote me a ticket anyway, got an atty to try the case by mail, and I won. The argument was, just because u change the bed on the truck, why does that mean it ceases to be a pickup?
A yr or so later, CA legislature amended the CVC and added a pickup definition, went into effect on an "emergency" timetable. Next time they inspected me, I had to change the registration, even tho I argued I still met the definition, which is: A truck under 11,500# gross and under 8100# unladen weight, with an open box type bed under 9' long.
